OK...I WANT TO put on coilovers on Stock Struts!

Ok...these Skunk2 Coilovers are starting to get dusty...Ive had them for a while now but didnt put em on cause i was waiting for shocks...well...cause of money issues...i have to buy other stuff and the struts have to wait a month

anyways...if i put the skunk2 coilovers on my stock 98 civic si struts...HOW LONG WILL THEY 'last' I dont think ill ever use them again so if they get blown no prob

ill be lowering it enough so you can just barely stick your finger between the fender and the wheel

wow...that's pretty low...about 2 inches would you say? That's pretty sweet.

Well, I'll tell you this much, it's gonna be a bouncy ride! haha...basically, you'll be riding on primarily springs and springs bounce like no tomorrow...especially on the freeway. Your stock shocks aren't made for the change...they help a bit in stabilizing the car but not much else. They should be alright for now...but, won't suggest cornering like a maniac just yet...you don't want kambering...that's a biatch to repair...a kit costs like 5 bills...might as well have bought the shocks for another bill more...haha:D

98civicSi,

I drive an '00 1.6 EL, I have a coilover sleeve system on my car with stock struts. I have been driving with this set-up for the past year and have had no problems. (Running OBX Gravitational Controls, same as Eibach GC's but less $$) I am however using an Integra spring rate, and my car is only currently lowered about 1.75". I do plan on swapping out the stock struts within the next month or two.

I guess what I'm saying is that coil-overs seem to get a bum rap, but I haven't had a problem yet. As far as the bouncy ride, I dont notice much of a difference form my friends cars, and they are all running Neuspeed or H&R springs with stock struts.

Best bet is to just feel it out.
