Oil Pump D-series (My SiR??)

I found two oil pumps listed, an Oil Pump Assy and Oil Pump Assy (YAMADA). Which one is better? Another question, do you see a benefit of putting a VTEC oil pump on a non-VTEC turbo engine? I want to add an oil cooler, as well as I need extra plumbing to feed the turbo. I want to know if the VTEC D16Y8 pump has more capacity and pressure to feed my oil-hungry non-VTEC engine. I want to ensure proper lubrication to my engine under severe conditions.

bbarbulo,

Sorry, I haven't checked the boards in a while. It's been really busy lately. From what I can see, you should be using the Oil Pump Assy (YAMADA) (#15100-P2A-A00). I am assuming that the two are likely the same and the difference is the manufacturer location. They should be made to the same specs.

From the latest parts book, it only shows the YAMADA pump. This could be because Honda Canada realized that the parts are the same so, they will just utilize one source. It also looks like the same pump is used for all SOHC motos, VTEC or not. Now, if the DOHC motor has a different pump (#15100-P72-A00) and I am not sure on what would happen if you used that one. I just realized that you might have been talking about the DOHC vs. SOHC pump. Well, the part numbers should tell you.

Mark

YES!!! Thank you oh massa of essential information. I realize the B-series accessories that bolt to the block like the oil pump cannot be used on a D-series...so you are correct in assuming I was talking about the D16Y8 pump on a D16Y7 block. But since they are the same, that will not be necessary. Perhaps once I get to internal work I'll just put some oil squirters under the piston skirts to cool them, and that's it. Thank you
