Oil Problem!!??

I was driving today and noticed my car hesitating when my throttle was 100% open. When I got home I checked my oil, and it was like empty. I had just had an oil change a few weeks ago, and there has been no oil dripping from my car and my exhaust fumes aren;t black or anything. Then I checked my bill and saw the guys only put 3 litres of oil in. My car needs 4 when I change the oil filter which I did. Should I worry about my car burning oil or should I just go bitch, get a new oil change and forget about it???

I will go bitch first.
No white/blue smoke
No signs of leaking
few weeks and all gone?

Where did the oil go? It has to go somewhere.

Or the guy forgot to fill it up for you when doing the oil change.

After the new oil change, monitor the oil level everyday.
If you are still losing oil, then you have problem.
If not, never go back to that shop for oil change.

Listen to v33k, and if you are losing oil... get a compression test. If the readings are fine, I would suspect it's a valvetrain problem.. probably a seal or guide.

Checking your oil

When you check your oil, the car can't be on an incline. If you checked your oil on your drive way, that may explain why you didn't see no oil on the dipstick. Also, don't you have to wait like 5 (or so) minutes before you check your oil? That way it has time to 'drip' down into the oil pan? Could be an old wives tale though.

I always check my oil when the engine is cold.

Generally you should check oil every time you gas up.

OR every 400-500 km

I check mine every night, but then again, I'm a little paranoid that way.
