oil filter

oil filter

i plan to do oil change on my gsr every 7k. i'm using mobil 1 syn now with honda oem blue filter. do the oem filter good for 7k?
if i want to upgrade the filter. what is a good choice?? k&n is one i might get. any other suggests??

filter is not what I'd be worried about... maybe use Amsoil synth oil instead of Mobil one. I change my mobil one every 3000 kms or 4 months.

B, what do you think of Valvoline Synth? Theres some for a good price at wal mart this week I thought I might check it out.

besides Amsoil, Motul, Redline and the old fully synthetic Mobil1, all other synthetic oils are pretty much created equal. Even Mobil1 is kinda shitty now, but better than most still, and it's readily available to me every 3000 kms

toyman, the owners manual clearly states that the filter can be changed every other oil change, or every 12,000 kms. I don't take that chance... I do it every oil change.

thanks B i might try sytn next oil change. Should I buy engine flush treatments if i change to sytnh?

no, just let the stock oil detergents do their work... time will clean out the deposits as it is...

damn, every change?
im using castrol synthetic w. oem filter..
i wouldnt be able to afford that hehe
$30 for sythetic oil
$10 for oem filter
and doing it myself, ahh at least i save compared to all those people who bring it to the shops hehe

you dont want to put off changing the filter for too long cause once the filter gets too plugged up with crap, there's a bypass switch that allows the oil to bypass the filter to avoid oil starvation.....so beware not changing your filter

the technican at dealer said that the oem filter is good for 12k.

i though the mobil one is good for like 10k, if not drive hard.
