Exactly what I was thinking, same as removing upper control arm?

newman 18-Jul-2005 12:45 AM

Next time separate lower balljoint and swing spindle out to remove the driveshafts.

Gunmetalef 18-Jul-2005 12:52 AM

the good thing about seized up cars is they are a good learning experience, u start develeping good tactics at getting off seized bolts and keeping them from snapping and stuff.

civicnation 18-Jul-2005 12:00 PM

you also learn after the first couple of times how to manage your anger afterwards. my fairly new car hates me in the same way and it has been maintained very well.

let me set this stright. i was going after the lower ball joint but i couldnt get it off so i started attacking the upper arm hoping that would work which it stripped .... so that is my problem there sub frame behind engine is messed up to bent to **** were the lower arms bolt on... it's a mess

imported_starboy869 18-Jul-2005 05:20 PM

Your trying to do an engine swap and can't remove a lower ball joint?

Maybe you should get a bigger hammer.

Honestly. Unthread the nut until it flush with the bolt heat on the balljoint. Wack with a decent size hammer until it comes out. This way won't damage the threads too much (If your going to reuse it)

Hint: CT has a loan a tool program. Ie. ball joint remover

*if I seem a bit like an a$$ I had to get stiched (10) up today and my meds are wearing off. .

imported_SIR_Injected 18-Jul-2005 05:34 PM

okay i gave it another go! my headhead from last night just got better i removed the lower balljoint got of the nut and finally removed my left side cv joint :D ... ill see about re threading my upper controll arm balljoint thread's which imost lilky can do even put a diffrent thead on it later! ... now i just gotta worry about the subframe in the meantime ill just pull the motor out now

imported_italstallion 18-Jul-2005 06:52 PM

oh god my car is like that too EVERYTHING is siezed and rusted to ****lol

imported_gatherer 18-Jul-2005 06:58 PM

A N T I S I E Z E

use it on all bolts ... well the bolts that rust in place

imported_SIR_Injected 19-Jul-2005 01:32 AM

the hardest thing is when your bolt is seized onto the bushing try that (lower controol arms) :(

imported_gatherer 19-Jul-2005 09:39 AM

so you cut them out get new bushings .. obviously you need them... and then you use Anti sieze on the bolts....

imported_SIR_Injected 20-Jul-2005 12:16 AM

the bushing came out with the bolt pushing out the socket ...where the lower arm fits now its all messed up
