Oh how i love auto parts stores

oh boy do i love them so!

wait.... what am i saying..... how can i love a store filled with employees with negative IQ's?? its like when they hire new employees they must ask

"do you know ANYTHING about cars?"
"no"
"great, youre hired!"

i just went to autozone (i hope for god's sake you dont have those up there in canada) to get an optima red top in a 51r group size.......

little did i know that the optima website is full of lies.

the manager argues with me that optima doesnt make a red top 51r.... only a yellow top. he tells me that the red tops are a special large size only battery. i told him that optimas website says it makes them, so ill just go elsewhere cuz apparently you dont carry them. he tried to sell me his ratty ass yellow top (the only one they had in stock. it looked as if it had been on the shelf for 10 years and had been run over a few times)

i told him no, i dont need it, i just want a red, now if you order one, ill buy it from you. he then tried to sell me a blue top (which is a marine battery that wasnt even a 51r to begin with)

so i got fed up and instead of yelling or anything i told him:

"ok ill take the blue top"
"ok give me a second, its all the way up ontop of the rack in the back"
"ok fine (eeexcellllleent[burns's voice])"
so he went to go get it, and i just left LoL

do you guys know any worldwide chains that carry them?? maybe pep-boys or napa??

Now thats good! haha I hate salespeople that try to sell you something you do not want from the beginning.

51R doesn't come in redtops.

scarlemthug 26-Apr-2005 09:28 PM

Younes Si 26-Apr-2005 10:29 PM

My buddy just bought a optima red top at Wal-Mart with like 3 years warrenty, and it's the real thing

J 26-Apr-2005 11:14 PM

ya even the websites listing for 1998-2000 civic is only the yellow 51r, maybe the salesman was actually right

Nova_Dust 26-Apr-2005 11:32 PM

You haven't visited Canadian Tires then. Some of the sales reps there can honestly put to you sleep while you watch and listen to their conversations.

imported_Thrill_House 26-Apr-2005 11:41 PM

Optima's in my experience are junk.

Gunmetalef 26-Apr-2005 11:57 PM

agreed i'm 90% sure red doesn't come in 51R either

i kno yellow does though

scarlemthug 27-Apr-2005 01:31 AM

spracingsports 27-Apr-2005 02:24 AM

imported_JusBlaze 27-Apr-2005 02:24 AM

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNN NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

scarlemthug 27-Apr-2005 03:28 AM

interesting that pretty much no one except u has heard of a 51R red top......good luck with ur search.

bbarbulo 27-Apr-2005 05:29 AM

just get the yellow top or since you are mr california, go to honda-tech and they have all kinds of super light super tiny ass batteries you can pick up for cheap. like race batteries. they look like slightly bigger backup batteries for house alarms haha

or be cool like me and have a OEM Panasonic battery :)

imported_Mischev 27-Apr-2005 05:42 PM

off topic...but man.thats a swweeeeet Sig...thats one shiny hatch bro

bbarbulo 27-Apr-2005 06:35 PM

Tego, in fact it is :) it's factory japan equipment cuz when I bought my car in 98 they had a shortage of US/Canada made sedans, so they imported a few japanese ones, one of which I bought. So the VIN starts with a J, but otherwise it's a normal canadian spec Civic.

imported_b16turbohatch 27-Apr-2005 11:38 PM

i know for %100 that there are no optima red top 51r's in canada. i work for a battery company that ships optima batteries all over canada and there is no redtop 51r's.

boosted_d15b 28-Apr-2005 02:35 PM

imported_BoOsTd 28-Apr-2005 11:07 PM
