OBD 2 in 89 Si question?

I just put a D16Y8 in my 89 Si. The new engine is mated to my Si tranny. I have a computer and the wiring harness for the new motor but will there be a problem if i dont have the electronic speed sensor on the tranny, i am using the cable drive since thats what was in the car already with the older tranny. Will the P2P computer still enguage vtec and run properly without the electronic speed sensor or will i run into any computer issues? any info is greatly appreciated.
