o2 sensor bad?

How can I tell if my O2 sensor needs to be replaced? I don't believe I am getting the gas mileage that I should be (getting about 300-320 KM on a full tank). How much do these usually run from the dealer? This is for a 94 integra LS with about 170,000 KM. Most people I know are getting like 400+ on a full tank. TIA. If anyone has hook-ups at an Acura or Honda dealership and can get me a good price on this that would be good too.

TCC membership has it's privilages.

Discounts at a variety of places......including a Honda dealership in the GTA.

As for the gas milage...when was the last time you got a FULL tune up?

full tune-up has been done within the last 4 months, I have been getting this kind of gas mileage for quite sometime and thought it was good til I asked a few of my friends who have tegs as well.

As for the tune-up - plugs, wires, fuel and air filter changed, etc, etc.

So how do I use this TCC membership at Honda/Acura dealerships to purchase products? And which dealerships can I go to?

db7, the testing procedures for an O2 are something I highly doubt you can do yourself... the O2 sensor puts out between 0 and around 1 volt... you should be reading a wave of voltage somewhere in that range. If the reading is stuck at 0 or 0.3 V, the O2 is most likely dead. It may not be that. On my other car I replaced a bunch of sensors, and it still gets me 480 kms/tank mostly hwy driving... and that's not that good for these cars, kinda average actually getting 33 mpg. I was getting 350 kms/tank before. There are a few things that affect this... like coolant temp sensor, O2 sensor, MAP sensor, TPS and ITS. However, if you passed emissions with that kinda mileage, then it could be your driving habits.

the tool required to check a O2 sensor is an osilliscope.... it's 2 grand used.... for a cheap one ... not worth it in my opinion just take it to a shop and hand them the o2 sensor and ask them to check it.....

**** redlining each gear is not good. That definatly reduces your gas mileage.
