o2 sensor

Just recently I got my o2 sensor replaced at honda, the part alone was 232, plus labour and all that came to over 300;

My question is, how hard would it be to replace your o2 sensor yourself?

Also, for ECU codes theres different codes for your first, second and third o2 sensor. Do you have 3 of them or just one?

thanks,

To replace a 02 sensor u will need the 02 sensor tool. It is very easy to take out like 5 min. But sometimes u need to use a torch to take it out because it is seized in there and u can't take it out. Once u try to take it out it might snap. For Honda civic mostly they have 1. Some other cars might have 2 or even 3. Like they would say bank 1 sensor #1 or bank 2 sensor #2. and so on.

you dont need an 02 sensor tool, the right size box end wrench and a torch will do the same

About the codes, there could be codes for O2 sensors, O2 sensor heaters and LAF (Linear Air/Fuel ratio) sensors.

On current 4 cylinder Hondas there is one O2 and one LAF (which looks like an O2 sensor). On V-6s, there are two O2 sensors (one on each bank) and two LAF sensors.

Each O2 sensor could also produce their own O2 heater malfunction codes.

So, on 4 cylinder cars, there could be a few codes related to O2 sensor. Also, a car running lean/rich could also be caused by a faulty O2 but not give an O2 sensor related code.

Clear as mud?
