o2 sensor?

i vaguely remember hearing about this... but will the car actually run without one? i got the bung welded into my header but when i was unbolting the stock one it snapped into two... it was in rough shape either way... but can i drive without?

as a side note... i haven't heard a better sound then my car with no header hitting 7500 rpms i took her for a boot around the block with no header on and wow... it puts all exhausts to shame...

lol rick u seem to have the worst luck, to bad u didnt have a sound clip of the no header exhaust i have always wanted to try that, as for not having the o2 sensor, wouldnt that cause ur car to run really rich? also a cel? i know my friends car couldnt pass emissions without replacing his o2 sensor cause it was pooched he also had a cel which was very annoying while driving

well it does run with out the sensor... sounds ****ing sweet cause i didn't plug the o2 bung i got welded in today... but then the exhaust pipe broke off just after the cat and now my car is really loud...

i doubt i'd be able to get a new pipe on a sunday either  ah well more fun crap i dont wanna do on the car... i think to stay on the cheap i'll just buy a nut to fill the o2 sensor hole and just run it till i can afford the actual o2 sensor... cause ya that broke too...

it will run but will revert to open loop adn run off the PROM in the ecu for a/f settings...basically you will run rich as ***** cause it can't take reading from the o2's for fine a/f changes to keep her at stioch 14.7:1 ish...

Awww man, you have all the luck...CT is gonna be your friend now...

You should be able to get all (the necessary tubing, mating flanges and gaskets) to get you mobile.

You should look into a larger cat to make the changes you are doing worth while. You can always pick up one in good shape from a wreckers off a domestic (they usually run 2" diameter i/o) for cheap...

Don't forget the resonator...

well i think i'm just gonna use the rest of my current exhaust just cut off the severely rusted part then just get some exhaust tape or something and go nuts... i even have some header paint left so it can be a cool white as well and yes i do have all the luck

for 308000 kms can't complain though

Considering you face a Sunday and all wreckers are closed, that's all you can really do..

Yeah - at 308k you're doing ok...

rick if ur looking for a cheap place to get ur exhaust done, there is a place in dundas, just near governors road, my friend had his exhaust done there with muffler welded, 2.25 from the cat no res and muffler welded on 200 bux cash he supplied the muffler but i thought that was a pretty damn cheap price, it looked good to not a hack job. its like rite off hwy 8 and governors, i think its a small shop they ahve like 3 bays, all i remember is there is a plaza accross the street cause thats where we went for food lol

Yeah, your perpetually running rich bro..

Head to wreckers, pull one from wreck. place in pocket. Find a good muffler at the same time...

did you say you went for a boot around the block with no exhaust period? like exhaust coming straight out of the head into the engine bay?

thats some crazy **** man!

I fired mine up with just the headder and downpipe, and jesus that was insane loud, just at idle too lol, didnt go for a boot.

btw your fince to drive without the 02 sensor, just be prepared for less fuel consumption... and decreased performance

i find it pulls even better now though ;shrugs: could be the actual header doing some work though

but ya i did turn the car on wiht no header on and just reved it a bit... very loud... then i drove into town (5 mins) to pick up some bolts with just the header on... sounded so sick... but i must say after touching redline twice i had a headache... so loud

but i thought someone posted saying the car will run "rich" with no o2?? doesn't rich mean to much gas? so my millage would go down? honestly with gas prices these days i'll drive with 1 less hp to get sick millage
