NooooooBIE Question

is it worth swaping an auto trans. to a 5 spd trans? ... how much am i gonna be putting out including labour and everything? its for a 99 civic si

chris_si98 28-Mar-2006 09:03 PM

depends where you get the swap from and where you get it installed.. anywere from 1000-2500, I could imagine (if you went to the dealer)

is it worth it? well.. do you want to drive standard? driving standard has its obvs. advantages.. better on gas, actually frees up some power when compared to auto trans., etc

ic ic ... yea ive always wanted to drive 5 sp d but i got it at a good price .... next question what are some of the things i would need for a full swap? clutch, gear box, ecu ? i really would like to get this done under a grand or max a grand including labour? is this impossible? ive seen many ppl on here selling transmissions? sorry im pretty new at this stuff

for D16Y8 motor i would say it is worth it, that motor is good 5spd, and still not bad auto. but def, u will feel a big power diffrence and gas etc.

IMO DO HER UP!

sell your si, because auto sells for more, then buy an 5speed

^^ thats tru as well, but if you planing to keeping your car for another 5-8 years then do it, you will be happy, but finding part wont be easy.

I would say sell it and buy a 5 speed as well. Not worth spending the time to source the parts, have it installed... and having all the small little problems that you might run into or extra costs that you never though about.

it is worth it, because you know how well your car has been taken care of. buying another used car can open a whole new can of worms
