Thanks for the reply

That post explained a bit on springs and shocks but what exactly coilovers are is not clear.

edit:

I read the thread on "should i get coilovers?" from the archive

and it seems that coilovers have to be corner wieghed, and springs/shocks do not...

coilovers are adjustable... but aren't spring/shock combinations adjustable? e.g. Koni RSK Suspension Kit (red)

?

I believe Koni Reds are only adjustable shocks.

well i might be wrong...

anyway what i meant was this:

Koni RSK Suspension Kit (92-00 Honda Civic)
KONI SUSPENSION Suspension Kit Koni RSK Suspension Kit (92-00 Honda Civic)

Full Image Koni's ride height and damping adjustable RSK Suspension Kits include a complete set of performance shocks and lowering springs at an affordable price for several popular Honda models.

Four specially valved, manually adjustable KONI Special shocks and Koni bump rubbers matched to four performance lowering springs. Front and rear ride height can be selected from multiple options including allowing for compensation of additional rear loads including heavy electronic equipment, trailering, etc. Exact lowering may vary based on vehicle models, options and modifications. These dampers feature KONI's race-proven technology and handling giving drivers more predictable and precise cornering while maintaining a comfortable, well-damped ride.

found it here: http://www.proparts.ca/products/desc...ic_/index.html

1) are these 'koni reds'?
2) from the above description, these are NOT coilovers right?

Yes they are Reds matched with springs made by a company called Vogtland. The Reds are damping adjustable, but they are pre-set before they are installed and they have to be removed to change the damping. They have minor height adjustments by a small ring on the shock body, but again the have to be removed to change the height. The height adjustment is maybe +/-1".

To put it easily, coilovers are height adjustable springs. You turn a big ring that the spring sits on changing the height by several inches.

Just keep searching through the arcives and different threads. All of this has been discussed before.
