Lightbulb newby needs help picking a civic engine

Hi, just bought a 90 Civic DX with a 1500CC two port injection engine. The engine is toast and I am looking for a replacement but am having trouble figuring which other engines will work with minimal changes. The car is in good shape and I am pretty handy with a good selection of tools. It came with a spare tranny (SI) and new in the box clutch (SI). Present engine 2 port injection manifold and exhaust manifold is in good shape. Old tranny (DX) has what looks like a worn input bearing.
Any help identifying what years and type of engine would fit with this setup would be greatly apreciated.

B16's are cheap for the Power you get. Since you'll have alot of wiring to do anyway's to switch to Multi-Point you might as well go to a B serie's. Its alot more work for the swap but its well worth it. D's aren't that fast. When you have a B16 you can Boost,Spray or Go all motor with satisfactory result's. But if your on a Tighter Budget you can Get a B18A and drop that in. There still faster than 95% of D swaps.

If your funds aren't that great, and don't care about going fast. I would just get a SOHC ZC and install your dual port intake. (yes it can be done). The MPFI swap isn't too hard just do a search on google.

Simple & a drop in. Don't forget a new t-belt, etc. A lot easlier with the engine out.

Don't forget B & D/ZC series engines are going to need different transaxles.
