Question new headers or not?

OK, forgive me if this may sound stupid to some here, but if we don't ask questions we will never learn, righ?

OK, I am thinking of making my B16A2 breathe a little easier so I will get AEM CAI. Also, I wanted to buy some headers. Now, which headers do you think would suite this engine best and why? And, would I have to change my whole exhaust in order to feel the difference with headers? If YES..what kind of exhaust?

TNX

yes you'd have to change the exhaust ... read my write up air flow and the proper way to open it up (if on a budget... if your not on a budget do it all at the same time)

have fun....

I'd start with intake and free-flow cat-back. Usually off the shelf stuff is good.

IF you are staying MILD N/A application, you can look for 2 1/4 inch mandrel BENT!!! NOT CRUSH bent. Crush bent 2.25 inch has a 2 inch cross section at the radius. This is no good - 2.25 inch mandrel or 2.5 inch crush bent. Again, you'll see better results from mandrel bent if you go mild street app's. IF you plan to open up the B16 more, with things like cams, valves, P&P, header, chip/fueling, advanced timing, THEN I'd do 2.5 inch mandrel and just really work on getting the high rpm power out.

Once you have this, you can follow it up with a 2.5 inch cat free flow AND a JDM ITR header or whatever size exhaust you decide on. It all depends on what your driving style is.

me personally I'd go with a JDM ITR header and keep teh stock itr heat shield so everything looks stock....then I'd get a comptech exhasut (cause they look stockish) or a magnaflow that loosk stock with 2 1/4 piping to boot

JDM ITR has a 2.5 inch collector, and then you'd go with 2.25 piping to boot?? haha WTF is the point of JDM ITR header then if you just choke it later down the line? Why not just get a regular USDM ITR manifold with the 2.25 inch collector?

i agree.... with Barbulo!

go with a USDM or a DC sports 4-2-1 header!
as for exhaust 2 1/4 is the best choice! i hear edelbrock makes good **** too!

ive been reading up on it!

CAI - AEM CAI is a good choice!
your car will booot a bit better then it is now!

thats what i may be doing for next season!
then headwork!

slow process, but ill be working with the N/A application
good choice my man!

there is a point to getting a jdm itr header then 2 1/4 piping......

but that's jsut what I woudl do to keep teh "stock look"...I'd even mayeb look into a itr exhaust and muffler to boot.....but ya basic woudl be 4 2 1 dc with 2 1/4

I think putting a cai and aftermarket headers makes underhood look a little cleaner
