New to forum

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the board and new to honda's. I've grown wearing of pouring hard earned cash into the bottomless tank in my Suburban. Don't need it anyway, we've allready got the Town and Country to haul the family around. I gave up most of my toys when I got married and bought a house. Now that life has settled down, and the kids are a bit older I'm ready to treat myself to a toy again.

I picked up a nice and clean '91 dx hatch. The typical rust is just starting at the rear of the rockers and is getting fixed asap. Its good to be owed favors by the bodyshop guys.

Being a car guy, I can't leave well enough alone. The car is bone stock... 147k, one owner, perfectly maintained. The d15b2 (I think) runs great and sips fuel. The 5spd shifts nice and crisp with out a sound.

Besides the little bit of rust repair, I'm not sure where to start and would like some advice. I'd like to draw on all of your experiences and try and get the best bang for my bucks. I'm not afraid to spend a little cash, but don't want to go nuts either. I'm fully capable of handling anything mechanical or electrical myself. I've been a car nut my whole life and a class A interprovincal tech for near 15 years, the last five with DaimlerChrysler.

What kinds of gains could I expect from a mpfi swap and maybe a mini me conversion?

Cosmetically I think I'll keep it white. When the little rust repairs are done, the bodyshop guys are going to do a complete on it for me. I was thinking of having them shoot the hood black, and adding an SI lip and EG skirts. Do you think shooting the spoiler black aswell would be too much?

I'll keep the 13's for winter, but I'm undecided on black or gunmetal 15 or 16's and a bit of a drop.

Sorry for such a longwinded first post. I've been hanging out for about a week now, and it looks like you guys have got a great group going. I'm looking forward to cruising down for some meets. I'm only a couple hours away from the GTA.

Dan .

Welcome to TCC. There is lots of useful info if you search through the different forums. Before you go a spend the money, first try to decide what you want form the car. Daily drive, Auto-X, Drag car. Your car is pretty old, so remember it's not an investment, but more of a liability.

Personally, basic modifications to the suspension are were I started. Civics for the most part are pretty slow, but handle very well with a good suspension set-up.
