^^ Good vs Even Better.

My Y8 Civic gets easy 500-550 to the tank w/ 5spd.
My B18B used to get easy 450-500 to the tank w/ 5spd.

both have a 45L tank and both used up about 40L.

i havent read through the thread but I'll give my input.

I'd get a full b18b swap (which im sure somebody else has already mentioned). It's great for city driving (when compared to our d16's) you'll feel like you have a lot more power in the low/mid range. And with the longer gears of the LS tranny you'll still be getting wicked gas mileage (assuming you use the p75 ecu and do a fresh tune-up)

If you are paying for install.. i would assume it would be around $2000 maybe a TAD more if you get a clutch kit, timing belt, water pump, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, pcv, etc.

the B18B should get better fuel economy vs a D16 cuz you rev it lower to get the same torque. if you drive both the same way, the B18B gets you better mileage...

JookSingKid saw better fuel economy with a B20/GSR tranny combo over his original Z6 (something like 625kms vs. 500 kms).

^^ meh but the displacement is larger..

I think the economy will pretty much be the same as the y8.

displacement isn't linearly related to the amount of fuel consumed.

think.... does a crown vic with a 4.6 L engine consume 3 times as much gas as a 1.5 liter civic? no it doesn't. it consumes more gasoline mainly for the reason that it has nearly double the weight to move around... that is not to say that a 4.6 liter in a Civic would consume less gas since there is an efficiency loss with more cylinders... however there is a 'breaking point' where more displacement would actually mean lower consumption and I think in practical terms, the 1.8 L or even a 2.0 liter Civic would qualify. JSK for those who know him used to be all about fuel economy... he'd squeeze his car for every liter of gas, yet he still had one helluva fast ride.

Bruce, we will do lunch on Thursday and we can discuss your options.

Let me know if you are good to go.

Yeah, I saw better mileage out of my H22 Hatch than the z6 too.. Over 600kms easy to the tank when I babied the car. Mind you it was impossible to keep it under 130km/hr. Minimal throttle would accelerate the car past 130Km/hr..

I met up with JSK once and we test drove each other's cars... Good times, great guy..

Never see him here anymore.

imo...im a fan of the b16's...
cheap, pretty avail, parts in abundance. 1.6L goodness with pretty good power....

then feed it some boost in a little while, build up the block (mine is in progress!! cant wait!!!!20lbs of boost goodness)....

and you'll be a very happy guy

in all honesty..b16 ftw.

hmm what do b18s run for these days, Wondering if thats a better choice for over a B16A, I don't need the fastest card in the world Vtec sounds nice but so does 600+KM /tank

when my b16 wasnt boosted, good clean daily driving with no messing around, i'd EASILY get over 500k per tank

but, i did plugs, wires, timing belt, water pump, etc...all on swap..

so, it cost a BIT more

but she ran like a charm.
