New Clutch Problem
 

Hey all,
I hope this is in the right place.

I just had my clutch done earlier this week. I bought the kit off a guy on these forums, it was apparently an OEM Exedy

It was fine the first couple of days, but now I am noticing something weird. Drivability is beautiful...but when I'm stoppped or the car is off and I push in the clutch, I can feel, like a click in the pedal and have confirmed that is coming from the tranny, as I have heard it coming from there. It happens on release as well. When I got in the car this morning it didn't do it...but after I drove and stopped the car, it did it again. Like I said it shifts beautifully and I don't feel it when I do so.

Is this something that I should be concerned about and take it back to the shop? Or just play it out for a little while to see if it goes away?

w3rd.... it's not normal. if you paid money to have it put in, then take it back and have them do it right. it's prolly just a problem with the clutch release fork (the thingy that the slave cylinder pushes on) but in any case, it shouldn't be.

Update:

I took it back to them today and they told me it was the slave cylinder and that they would lube the piston. It still makes the noise and I can still feel it in the pedal. They told me that the piston in the master was the issue, and not to really worry about it. I am because the noise and the way it feels annoys the sh!t out of me, and the fact that it didn't do it before I had the clutch done....so why would it do it now?
From what I can tell, replacing the master is pretty simple. Can anyone confirm?

Soooo how exactly does it sound like?

Like a click or a squeak? (like a rusty door hinge?)

If it squeaks, it's common that the pivot ball that the clutch fork pivots against it making some noise; they tend to wear over normal use and if they're not greased properly (Honda High Temp Grease) when the clutch is replaced they can be noisey.

i have this same problem in my eg since i bought it...i'm not mechanically inclinate...but i was told by a friend that's in college for autotech that it's my slave cylinder.when i start up and drive around it feels nice and smooth,but the more i clutch in, it gets stiffer and i hear a squeek when i push the clutch to the floor. All i know it doesn't feel right, i've driven other egs and the clutch pedal feels so much better.I did that thing...bleeding out the clutch fluid and replacing it with new fluid to see if that'll help and it didn't make a difference

It's a click that can be heard and felt when the pedal is pressed in and released. It does make a bit of a squeak as well, but is subtle and less profound than the click. it's so sparratic, and frickin' annoying.
I'd be willing to replace either cylinder to have the clutch as smooth as silk again :cry:

This is a D16 in my 95 BTW...not that it would make a helluva difference

well first off those mechanics are idiots if your your pivot ball on the fork more than likely...not to mention they lubed your slave piston....lol wft I guess hydraulic seals love grease to seal agianst the metal piston...they are idiot's...the slave/master woudl jsut cause disengagement and engagment issues not noises...and the pistons woudl be wet from the leaking seals...
