Need Suggestions with Exhaust Setup
Alright guys here is my dilemma. I have tried so many different exhausts and so far none have given me the quiet sound I've been searching for. Right now I have a Magnaflow High Flow cat, not sure if its 2.25 or 2.5 inch mandrel bent piping from the header back, and an Apexi WSII universal muffler, and the biggest possible Magnaflow Resonator. The Apexi is supposed to be really quiet, which it is below 2.5k RPMS but it still roars on the highway with my B16 since I'm usually in the 3.5-4k range.
I am basically wondering if I should spend the money again for the 4th time on a new muffler such as an ITR or GSR muffler. Or is it the diameter of the piping that is causing me trouble? As noted above I just want something quiet again, performance is no longer a concern for me

So you pretty much saying get a whole new setup? If that is the case, then another dilemma is that there is technically no stock setup I can use. I have a B16 in a 1999 Sedan. I could use a modified SIR setup but the stock cat is useless to me as I am on an OBDI setup and don't have the 2nd O/2 sensor that would be required for the SIR cat.

you can just get a busted o2 sensor and plug the bung on the cat, or just get a plug (any exhaust shop will have one).
Well if you want quiet, i would start with a regular muffler and stock cat. If thats still too loud, get smaller piping or a stock exhaust system.
Or just go a trustworthy exhaust shop and explain to them what you want, they'll be able to help you out.

Indeed, larger piping will induce more sound, most likely, you have a 2.5", not a 2.25.
What I may do in your case is get an OEM muffler (ITR, GSR as you listed) to reduce the piping in the end. Sacrifice has to be made in HP department if you want to reduce sound.
Should be a bolt on.

When you say this muffler roars above 2.5k....is it like a raspy sound or what?
Im considering doing an exaust setup such as what you have because i do not want it to be too loud. Except i would be getting the apexi 2.25 catback instead of custom.

I don't blame him for wanting to change it...

^^^ HAHA exactly. This is supposed to be a quiet exhaust, and mind you it usually is, especially on a D-series. But its just not doing it for me.
I will take it to a shop and see what they recommend. It would just kill me though if I had to take it in yet another time after getting a stock exhaust and then have to change all the piping.
NEW Question. The ITR\GSR Axle backs.. will they still fit correct on the Civic sedan? (Like the bends will still make it over the control arm, etc?) Another thing is what would the diameter difference be? My full exhaust at this moment includes the axle back piping and I would need to cut it and add a flange to support a stock exhaust.

mine is by design because im sponsored by NoyzBoyz.. its not a raspy sound because i have this long huge resonator on it.. so its toned way down... its sounds really wicked when you blaze the road it sounds like a race car lol...
Heres a pic of how the rear looks...

Your motor has to fill in a 3" exhaust before it makes any power = real ****ty low end. And considering this guy has a stock b16 (i assume) getting anything above 2 1/4 is ridicilous, it will suffer gas economy and take a shot in the nuts at low-end.
But I guess you know all, afterall you do have 214whp on a STOCK b20 BE with hack dremmeled pistons.

yup its more or less stock no crazy internals just bolts on stuff. Can anyone answer the question on whether or not the ITR Axle back is a direct fit and what the stock piping size for the ITR is?

I believe the muffler will bolt on at the midpipe end and also hang at the right place. Afterall, Integra is based on EG chassis.
