need some engine tune-up advice
hey guys...since i've gotten my car last june i haven't done an official tune-up. i've had the rad and dizzy changed; and ofcourse scheduled oil changes every 3000 kms, but other than that nothing else....the car feels kinda very slow and if it's struggling to get up to speed especially in 1st and 2nd gears, what should i do for a tune-up? like could it be the spark plugs? plug wires that's probably causing it to feel so damn slow? what sorta things i should consider doing in the tune-up? i know my timing belt and water pump are going to be changed soon, btw my motor is a d15b7, i know it's not powerful or anything, but it just feels extra slow...thanks for the advice.

Brian,
First you need my corner lights :) Here is a list of things I did to my d15b7 over the last 3 months. It went from slug to rocket 1. Cold air intake (the kind that digs deep beneath your bumper) If you wanna remain stock, invest in a K&N, if you already have one, clean it! 2. Change your spark plugs 3. Change your spark plug wires (preferably performance low resistance cables, CT sells good accel's) 4. Change the fuel filter 5. "borrow" a timing light and tweak your timing to perfection 6. I know you have a new cool cap & rotor so that should be ok 7. Maybe invest in a high flow catback system and possible header? That should keep you busy for a while. Even if your car doesn't fly, it sure will be thankful for what you did to it. |
