ok...i usually remove the main relay when i park the park at places other than home, as a means of theft precaution, as we know the car wouldn't start without it, however i checked to see if it was on properly and it was, could the main relay short out a fuse or something from not being connected properly? or can the main relay itself burn out from shorting?

yeah there is a green(?) connector underneath your dash, jump it and it will flash your cel light with ignition in 'on' position to give you ecu code.

check spark, fuel, main relay

check here

To check if you have spark is..

1. Pull #1 spark plug
2. With thes park plug still plugged into the wire ground the end to the engine block.
3. Crank engine over and see if you have spark.

You want to be looking for a blue spark.

hey can you find me a main relay that doesn't work but the fuel pump still works!!!!! with that relay? the main reason for that relay is to make the fuel pump charge the fuel system pre start!!!

ok friend came over, tried 2 ignitor chips which he brought and still the car wouldn't start, what next? could it be the ignitor coil? the distributor? or the main relay?

Check to ensure fuel pump is coming on when you put the key into ignition. I spent a few hours troubleshooting my old accord and found out no fuel was going to the engine. Engine crank over and there was spark. Fuel pump was fine, relay was fine, turned out wire harness gone bad. Got it hooked up again w/ power and everything works good.

oh i forgot to mention that when he checked it i wasn't getting any spark, so i don't think it has nothing to do with the fuel pump, don't know if it's the ignitor coil or the actual distributor itself

hte way youll know if your distributor is shot is if there is all this brown crap in your dist. cap...if there is none, check the play by grabbing the rotor and moving it up and down, side to side...if there is play, your dist. is shot...
