need a lower rear control arm

Have a feeling this bolt isn't going to come out.

Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a lower control arm for the left side 97 sol? VTEC (DOHC) ABS? if it matters...

I'm going to try NAPA and C/T but if anyone has one laying around....

ed, i wouldn't try CT or NAPA to find a replacement LCA.

with some work the bolt will come out.

i would try car-part.com...you will pay more, but you'll get an OEM piece.

are you installing a swap bar or something?

if the bolt won't come out.....break it off and have it replaced.

too late for the break it off part, that's already done.

as for NAPA parts, it's just a control arm, nothing serious like engine parts special bolts, or brake parts.

Having an after market part for that doesn't bother me that much, I don't think you'd be able to notice

make sure its a quality part all the same though.... cause they can snap... i haven't seen that first hand but i've heard of it happening...

the bad thing about driving a del sol dohc vtec is they are rare.... and you probably wouldn't be able to find it in a wreckers.... anyways though just make sure you get a solid piece

This is a common Del Sol thing... remove the whole control arm, take it to a machine shop with a new bushing in hand.. they will press out the old, press in the new... and voila, it's like you got a new control arm.

yes, if its THAT bad you can always have it torched off like i did.

imported_echien 26-Aug-2003 03:01 PM

But it's a bolt that;s broken off in it not the bushing...

bbarbulo 26-Aug-2003 03:08 PM

But if you remove the bushing, the bolt will come out with it, no?

imported_echien 26-Aug-2003 08:36 PM

Nah you're thinking about the three bolts the one that goes to the chassis, the one that goes to the strut, and then the one that goes to the trailing arm.

there is another part that goes through the anti sway bar, then into a bushing then the end of the bolt goes directly into the arm.

That part is broken off...

see other post... regular plumbing torch from CT or Home Depot will work... EZ out available at Sears tool center or maybe Home Depot.
