need help!! what is this at the tranny ??
can someone please tell me what part is this?? your looking at a 94 si manula tranny...
http://photos.yahoo.com/dtran_80 under "car tranny" it's labelled recently i drained out my tranny fluid and topped it up with 10w30 oil... this is just a temp until i get honda MTF..... i aslo replaced my bosc platinum 4 with ngk v-groove copper... the problem is that i see the down grade in the performnace!!! now, since then, i noticed my car runs like ****.. when i step on the gas, it's like holding back.....especially at higher speeds like 80km/h + the reason why i'm asking is becasue i opend this up and noticed that it wasnt the fill plug... in it, there is a slight opening wiht this thing that you can move one side to another ( a round thing that you can only see a part of it) ... not sure waht the hell this is.... maybe i did something to it now it's screwed up or so.... please help..... |
looking at the Gen7 manual it looks to just be a sealing cap..
you would pull that to release the snap ring for the countershaft bearing.. my guess is it's just cuz of what oil you're using.. |
i've always wondered what that was too... the hayne's book i have doesn't show anything

probably not but you never know. motors as they age become "bitchy".. the slightest change could have an effect. would it hurt to try? :)

Originally posted by DT80 guess not.. thanks for hte advice... btw.... i talked to you about the amsoil stuff... it claims that you don't need to do a oil change till like 25K miles?? is this true man?? i mean not like you';ll leave it that long but maybe twice the time as normal oil maybe??? If you're talkin about not changing your engine oil for 25,000 kms, by that time it'll be like tar. |
AMSOIL is the only oil company that... "Recommends 25,000 mile oil changes" "Gives up to four times better wear protection" "Warranties your engine against oil related failure this must be bs???? 25000 miles.. that's alot of miles.... |
under normal driving conditions you can run amsoil for over 25,000 km. the altech shop car gets one oil change a year on amsoil and the motor is still mint. it logs about 30,000 km a year. i wouldn't leave oil that long though, especially if you drive your card hard.

Don't blame shitty performance of your car on copper spark plugs. When was the last time you checked your timing, ran a compression test, checked plug wires for resistance, did a valve lash adjustment, cleaned out your throttle body, new fuel and air filters, rad flush, dizzy cap and rotor... you know things like that.
