Need Help Finding a Decent Short Shifter

Hey guys,

I'm planning to get a short shifter for my 97 civic CX for around 100-150 bucks. Any good suggestions? So far I've come across Ractive, which is pretty cheap (like around 60 bucks), Solo (around 80) and B&M (around 120).

I don't know if the Ractive ones are good enough. Any other suggestions/comments?

Need help quick cause I wanna get one quick. Thanks guys.

I met a few guys who have the B&M.. damn the throws are short!

BOND how did you do the install yourself???? I hear you can't do it without a hoist/lift to get underneath the car. (unrelated note: saw the preview for DIE ANOTHER DAY.. it looks hype!! halley barry is soooo nice)

I have Ractive. Fine, so far. Great feel and throw. Buy new bushings if your car is a litle older. Worth every penny.

Search ClubSi and TCC forums. *Lots* of info about short shifters. I researched my purchase lots before I bought.

Some love Ractive, some think they break to easily. Some love Solo, others have had them break. You get the picture. There are many from which to choose.

Good luck. You won't regret the change. As BOND told me, goes from a bus feel to a car. Right on

Also have a SOLO short shift... WOW feels sooooo smooooth and soooooo short.... Also like Bond I did the install myself... Well of course with 2 jack stands a ratchet set and some patience.... OH YEAH!! do not over tighten !!! This will make annoying sounds when shifting and you will fall out of gear while driving.... I made that mistake

It's right on the bottom of the short shifter where you connect the rod that goes to the tranny (sorry feelin dumb now can't think of the proper names)... Slide under the car... Loosen the nut and bolt on the bottom of the short shifter a bit and giver er a try if it's still sticky and falling out of gear loosen it a bit more etc etc etc.... Your gonna need a ratchet and a wrench or 2 wrenches... not a big thing very minor and easy to do... Have fun!!

Just installed a Solo in my 98Si. I love it! It was really easy too, but I had it on a hoist so we could get right under the car. Throws are about half the distance, but it scrapes on the heat shield, so I need a longer exhaust hanger. I paid $160 installed with a new ****.
