Well seeing how the 02 Civic doesnt have a a lot of aftermarket shocks avlialbe as of yet...all though I here KYB shocks is suppsoed to come out with there line of shocks by December for your 02 Civic
your only option is going with your stock shocks and lowering Springs..
What I suggest for the most comfortable ride and the best quality is TEIN S.tech Lowering springs, they advertise a drop of 1.8 front and rear..
these are the best springs you can find, great quality, excellent handling and ride quality...
these can be found at www.speedstate.com
but dont worry at the drop your at, the ride isnt going to be that bad on your stock shocks...
hopefully that helps...

i'm not a fan of coilovers... hit a big bump and they are off... plus unless your corner weighting while is unlikely you'll probably end up wearing your tires faster and having crappy handling.... just a get a good set of springs and spend the left over money on a better set of shocks (whenever they come out)
i have neuspeed race springs and love them... some would find them to stiff but i like it.... since you have a newer car you'd probably be more concerned them me about scraping so you'd probably want some sport springs.... theres lots out there.... h&r, eibach, neuspeed... theres more i just can't think....
but if you have your heart set on coil overs... check out the group buy section cause somebody is selling coil overs for $99

no experiances personally.... i dont think the hieght adjustment is really worth it though.... like all i'm doing this winter is taking my front race springs out and putting in my stock fronts.... ride problem fixed....
but another thing to consider for coil overs is that whenever you adjust them you have to get an alignment done... and to properly set the height you should be using scales at all 4 corners to make sure the weight distribution from the front left and rear right = the front right and rear left....

coilovers aint really a good thing, I mean its a ruff ride and personally double the work when adjusting them,
I had coilovers before, the most hardest thing to do is adjusting them upwards meaning rasing the car, it was tough to do and plus even though I got it to the highest point I can, the car was still quite low..
So coilover and really the best option unless you dont mind the work..
Seein how u only want to drop your car 1.8 or 1.5, that aint so bad, you still have plenty of room to clear snow and clear speedbumps plus you will never scrape...
take it from me, I am dumped 2.5 front and rear, and I got through the winter, I may plow but the key for me to gettin through everything is my snow tires..but other than that it was all good..
hope that helps...

I've got a set of ground-control coilovers on my ek hatch, and I love them. I have only one warning though; most coilovers sleeves will pick up dirt, sand, and salt in the threads after a few winters, and the perches will seize on the threads.
I just spent an afternoon moving some skunk coilovers on a buddy's SiR. Took a couple of hours with a wire brush, liquid wrench, rags, and a 12" length of 3/4" 0.65 wall steel tubing used as an extension on the perch wrench...

stay away from cheapo coilovers like tenzo....get Ground controls or skunk 2's....eitehr wya they have a huge spring rate which will rape your stock shocks and ride horrible...adn your handling will be probobly worse than stock...get h&r's or teins with koni reds as shocks...save for shocks because your stock ones will handle like **** and blow very quickly (espesially the 7th gen ones)...

I would say that riding on TEIN S.Tech lowering springs and tock shocks is something that you cant go with, decently priced and the best choice out there
By the time your shocks blow out, aftermarket shocks should be well developed and more refined...
good luck dude
