Need Help! Battery Light

Alright so I was driving over to my dads to give my car a quick once over when the battery light came on. After a few seconds it went off and then came on and off again a few more times.
While at my dads I went over every inch from the Alt. to the battery and anywhere else I could think and found nothing wrong. I checked the battery which had a charge and was able to crank the car over no problem. I ran the car and their is power flowing from the alt to the battery.
I checked for any loose wirers and found nothing. Tention on the Alt. belt was good so I can't really undertand what is going on.

Is my alt. on it's way out? Could something be grounding the car causeing a short in the charging system. The light isnt stedy so I can't figure out what it is. Any and all help would be great. Thanks guys!

voltage on battery while car is running should be above 14Vs.

Without alternator is 12.5-12.8V

Alright the check battery light is on steady now but I can't find anything wrong. The battery has a full charge and their are 14Vs comming through while the car is on. Their are no loose cables, everything seems to be just fine but the light is on. Any other reason why this may happen?

when it happened on my car, I drove it for another 2 months with the intermittent battery light problem, but I knew my voltage reg was burned. new alty from canadian tire fixed the problem.

Well I am about to do that but the battery is being charged, when you start the car and unplug the neg. termal on thye battery the car keeps going do it is getting power from the alt. But the really strange thing is when you unplug the alt. the light goes out. Now correct me if Im wrong but shouldn't this light stay on when the alt is unpluged? Which leads me to think it;s a short but their are only like 5 major wires to trace from the bat to start, fuse box and from the alt to the ground to the.. I think fuse box I think and the main grouind on the motor to the frame. Some one suggested it could be a short in the cluster since it is an 88 and I do run the system loud at times but I am at a total loss I don't want to spend 150 on an alt to find out its not the problem.

Could be the regulator inside the alternator is done and the alternator is putting out too much power, happened to me before.
whenever the revs increased all the lights got super bright, the battery eventually started to get overcharged and would emit a really bad sulfer "rotten egg" smell.
Check the voltage as you rev the engine to make sure it stays around 14v.
