NEED HELP BAD!! Electrical problems

my cel light came on and my speedo quit yesterday. i checked my vss cleaned it and what not, no joy. anyway on the drive home i notice that my lights are dimm, wipers are slow...so i think alternator i check the batt(car running) just under 12V. i change the alter, again no joy. chagre the batt up full, as well as disconect the batt for about 30 min... now theres only like 12.3V i checked the new alt when runnning also 12.3v i checked all the fuses in the engine fuse box there good.
I also got the CEL codes 17, 41, 65
so my problems are cel light, speedo not working, and charging system.
Anyone got any ideas?

Did you check the output voltage on the alt with the vehicle idling?

You might want to clean your ground wire connections from your battery.

i was just talking to some one that said he had the exact same problem, codes and all
the harrness under the intake mani has a tendency to chafe and rub through wire insulation shorting.
I think that there is a service bulitin out for it as well.
anyone else ever have this problem?

Yeah had the same problem with my old civic. Took it to Honda and they took both O2 sensors out, cleaned em and redid the wiring to them. Apparently the cat on that model was recalled and it clogged up and overheated my exhaust manifold. Thus burning through the wires and somehow messing with the speedo, but my car was chugging if you put down more than half throttle. Honda replaced all that stuff under warranty for $125 for O2 sensor wiring. I think your car has to be under 140k or 160k though.

sounds like this is the exact same problem the thread starter is having.
because code 41 and 65 are O2 sensors.
and 17 is vss.
