Need help

ok heres the deal...

i got into my buddies 94 hatch and when we turned down the radio to hear his new exhaust i heard a clicking from the passengerside front area... i know it wasnt the cv joint cause i have heard that before... it sounded like a metal clicking and got faster as we drove faster and slower upon slower driving... it sounds like maybe something metal is hitting the rim to me but im not sure...

anyone have any ideas??

we took the tire off and from what we saw nothing was out of place but we are not experts so we werent sure what to look for in the first place....

it could have been that for some reason the nuts came loose on the wheels. i have heard of that happening before.

other than that it could also b the axle or brake caliper........

check to see if the rotor is touching the heat shield

after i replaced a buddies axles we had the same noise, all i had to do was bend the metal back out and all was good

New exhaust? He might have an exhaust leak then. Mine is loose because I hit a raised man-hole cover with the resonator and it makes this clicking sound that speeds up/slows down when the revs do.

well this has to be something on the drive shaft or rotor because it isnt just when he revs... it sounds like slight metal scraping even in neutral...

i think its something hitting the rotor but im not sure ill see when he comes over tonight for us to work on it...

thanks for all the advice guys

I'm down with dirt in the wheel bearing. that sounds about right, if you visually inspected everything and didn't find anything. of course, you can jack the car up, take the wheels off, start it, throw it in first, and "test drive" it while listening for any noises. BTW, I don't recommend anyone sit in the car.... you can start it and run it just standing outside the car. I'd never get into a car on jackstands, that's just silly.
