-----> Need Help!!

I don't know if you guys remember my thread in the fall when i took my summer rims/tires off and put my steelies on, i had an issue with either the alignment or the studs on my passenger side wheel.... either way I tightened the lugs as tight as i could and then the problem didn't return.... until today... I washed my car and put on my rims today cuz i'm going to be driving again in a couple of weeks... and when i got to that wheel, i took the steelie off and looked at the lugs... they didn't seem to be even... (even is the best way i can put it, 1quickhatch, and a couple of other people who have seen them before might remember what i'm talking about) and they were so askew that i couldn't fit my summer rim on, so i tried hitting them with a lug wrench and they moved! like they were sorta loose or something, not really really loose but able to be moved which they shouldn't... right? now i tried to drive it around the block again and the problem is back, the alignment is off for sure (it pulls to the right HUGE when i'm driving if i'm not holding the wheel) but also when i go over 40km/h that front right wheel wobbles, but all the lugs are totally tight? any ideas? what should i do??? plz help quick, i have to fix this before i start driving obviously... bbarbulo any ideas??

TIA!

i know it's not bent it was perfect and i just put it on... it wasn't perfect with the steelie, the studs were still obviously skewed but i guess with the big rim it makes more of a difference? is it possible to change the studs myself? or is that too big a job?

Get a shop to take a look at it.....if the studs are loose, chances are that the hole that the stud is in is also damaged (might be)....if this is the case, you might have to also replace the (can't remember the name).....the thing the studs go through....holder....??

:scratches head trying to remeber:

OK, so are the lugs not even lengthwise, or are we talking about lugs being bent?? The lugs are just pressed into place, and can in fact move, but shouldn't. Skunk 2 has long studs (I'd recommend these to anyone with aftermarket rims cuz the hubs are thicker and the lug doesn't get the thread depth it should!) This is a good time to change it. The "holder" PULOVR was referring to is a HUB. The studs may be spot welded to the hub to keep them secure, but the sheer pressure of the lug nut being tightened will keep them in place. You may wanna inspect the hub and make sure they are all even. Remember you can drive with 3 EFFECTIVE lugs for a while if you drive normally (no jackass maneouvers) but I'd keep the steelies on for that. In the mean time order a new set of lug bolts from Honda or Skunk2, and a new or relatively new hub (junkyard). Without looking at it, that's the best I can do. It's no biggie if you've ever done a brake job, you can do it yourself. But!!! be ready to take the axle nut off...so make sure you got another cover-thingy handy (the cover over the center nut) cuz that's supposed to get replaced. You'll need a massive breaker bar and a HUGE socket... I forget what size, but take a vernier and measure it... it's like 32mm I think, but it could be slightly less...I forget.

i'll go take a look, 1sL0,

thanks bbarbulo, they're not bent but they're skewed... i donno how to describe it, it's like two of them are pointing in different directions, and for some reason when i go fast it's like the wheels moving....
sorta how a wheel would look if it wasn't tightened down all the way, sorta wobbling..... yeah that's it!! it wobbles over 40km/h and the wheel sorta shakes with it..... could it just be an alignment issue and i just fucked it up somehow? cuz honestly i don't see how the wobbling could be the lugs but that's all i noticed....

SilverSiG, I'd really recommend taking a look at the brake rotor and hub. No alignment would make your wheel wobble.... you must have something caught in there or bent/warped. Your wheels you say are balanced and straight...and the lugs are ****-eyed...so pull the rotor and inspect it for straightness with a straight edge in all directions (across all holes). Then, look at your hub, and hammer out the studs using a wooden block. Check your hub for straightness, and inspect the studs for warpage. I think your studs are bent.
