Need to change my muffler

Ok, here is the deal, after driving for 3+ hrs from St Thomas to Whitby, I started to get annoyed with my muffler. I had a major headache and hearing the muffler that loud wasn't helping. I need to change it. I don't want to spend a whole lot on a new one, but I do want a quiet muffler but not a restrictive one.

Any help would be grateful on suggestions on what to get. I will be going to a Auto Accessories in Whitby to see what they have, but I am open to suggestions.

Key words cheap and not loud!

What kind of muffler do you currently have?

I hear the replica Mugen Twin Loop mufflers are really quiet.

Maybe the real Mugens are.

I have the Ractive replica TL and I think its pretty quiet, much quieter than my bros lousy farty Ractive exhaust. Its totally drivable and not too loud, but obviously a bit louder then the stock exhaust. I have the IHE and its still quiet.

I suggest you look into those TL designs.

Sounds good. I have a Ractive muffler on the car now.

BTW Tego, I didn't even get to meet you at St Thomas, even though I saw you all over the place.

Cayuga bro!

What am I looking at for the TL design mufflers?

Haha I know man, there was so many people there...I'm going to try and meet more members....its really hard when there's 42 members there.

Maybe I should check out the official meets sometimes.

Yep, and I don't have the holes to put one on. As far as I am concerned, I would put a oem muffler on, but don't really want to.

But does it sound nice and not too loud? I don't want a loud muffler anymore. What's the cost on those Matt? Been looking at the affiliates, Pro parts have some tunables for 90 bucks. Oh yeah, I am look for cheap too.

DC2 ITR or DC5 ITR mufflers. OEM and big enough piping. That's what I would do if I were you.

so getting a DC muffler I would need to change my piping? Thanks Charles, but I just want to change my existing one and get a quiet one with minimal cost.

I think the mid-pipe stays, just the axle back piping might need some work. But there are some good number of Civics with ITR mufflers already modified to fit either hatch or sedan. So I think it wouldn't be that hard to source out one.

Give it a try. It might just work.
