Need advise - Riding very Low with Eibach Sport-lines and Koni Yellow
I have the Eibach Sport-line (red) springs with the Koni Sport (yellow shocks) on a 98 1.6EL. 17" Rims with 205/17/40 tires. The car is really really low now. I get slight rubbing in the front in corners and on some straight with large bumps.
Anyone have a suggestion to get rid of this problem? I am considering going with the Pro-kit to replace the Sport-lines if this is normal. I even took the car to an alignment shop and they would not touch it said it was to low! |
maybe your springs are defective and they sagged too low. post some pics.

Civicnation - Springs are only a few months old should not have sagged that much.

wow ur wheels are tucked? i have the same set up and i freakin love it. but tires dont tuck tho..

The Koni Yellows are slightly adjustable for height. Try raising them a little bit. That offset maybe a bit low too. Stock is 45.

The springs sit on the perches, the perches are held up by small clips, these clips sit in grooves, the clips can be moved from groove to groove changing the perch/spring height by about 1'+/-. I'll try to find a pic for you.

oh yea i know about that i did that too, i thought u meant adjust it while its on the car hahah

look inside your wheel wels and if this has been rubbing for a while u should be able to tell where and just go in the and fix or hack off whatever is rubbing

dumbass si has it....you've got the springs installed on the wrong perch of the yellows. I forget which is for lowering springs, but its not the lowest perch. middle front, top rear I think.
sportlines are 1.8/1.8 to give you an idea of the drop, and anything less then 2" will not tuck. |
The Front Yellows can only be lowered not raised I.e. they only have 2 ring positions. I have them in the stock (higher position). As for the setup I am sure they are not as low on a 2 dr as in the EK pictured. It appears really only the drivers side is rubbing as it will always be lower. I think the pro-kit will be better to my needs. I will try to post pics tomorrow

if your rubbing with sportlines, your wheel offset is shady or something else is up forsure. 1.8" drop is nothing. I went down about 2.25-2.5" on coilovers and didn't rub on a 1.6EL
The pro-kit will only lower something like 1.4/1.2 so offset would not come into play as you wouldn't rub since there is a gap there. alignment places will mostly say they won't touch a lowered car because of camber and its a pain they don't deal with often times because of the rack, etc. 1.8" is not too low at all and shouldn't be tucking at all, something is up forsure, atleast my H&R sports didn't and they were a 1.75" drop in the front. |
A quick additional piece of info. I totally forgot to put this in. I have SIR Suspension on the car. I.e. Front Lower control arms were swapped out. I know the SIR sits lower then the regular EK and I can only assume this is due the the front LCA.

EL's are slightly heavier, my base EL was 2550lbs, and premium would add maybe another 100-150lbs.
SIR makes no difference, yes it sits slightly lower but I believe that is the SIR spring. Koni Yellows and any EK spring fits on the SIR with no problems. SIR has slightly stiffer (like 30lbs) springs and if its like the ITR, the spring lowers the car that extra 1/4" I know of many, many EL's lowered on clubel and none have experienced tucking with a spring like Eibach Sportline, so I still say something is not right either wrong perch on the yellows, or something else is up. Eibach springs will not "sag" at the start, or likely ever...they are very high quality. The EL may lower the car an extra 0.1-0.2" with the extra weight, but even with a 2" drop thats far from tucking. Good offset is 41-43 with 43 being ideal I believe with a 7" wide rim. However I ran 17's with a 40 offset and 1.75" drop and was fine. Never rubbed...ever, on big bumps with the wheel turned all the way it never rubbed...nevermind a straight line. is it possible for his forks and what not where the konis sit are installed crooked causing the control arm to slant in a way where the tires tuck like ****? lol im just throwin out ideas here
