you blew her on the drag strip? thats rough, and also why i'm not going till i get my new motor put together :)

why not just do it in the garage? its not all that hard

coreyhayman 13-Jun-2004 07:08 PM

i dont got a garage or know how to at all..im willing to opay somebody 200 bucks to come down to my place and change it for me

dingus88 13-Jun-2004 07:12 PM

picking a better clutch will be key here cause you probobly are putting to much power for your clutch down....get atleast a exedy oe replacement but I'd go for the exedy race organic with a 1900 lbs pp and street disc it's a proven setup that has very nice manners and holds anything your setup can thrwo at it....better clutch is key to prevent future failure...

coreyhayman 13-Jun-2004 08:02 PM

will do, whats a clutch go for neways?....i got no clue, just looking for like a stage 1 clutch or something

CMS 13-Jun-2004 08:44 PM

yeah; speaking of clutches, mine is starting to deteriote (I can feel it)...

Is it worth it for me to go to Honda and get them to replace it? I don't race my SI or anything so really, I'd just want a long lasting durable clutch (is the best OEM?) or should I go aftermarket?

also; what price range am I looking @ to get this kinda stuff installed? thanks

Gunmetalef 13-Jun-2004 09:42 PM

punkindrublic 13-Jun-2004 09:48 PM

Gunmetalef 13-Jun-2004 09:56 PM

if you can change an axle you can change a clutch...jut get teh torque specs and a manual etc....if you smoked yoru clutch in that nature then I'd say get the flywheel resurfaced

how do most people do it, I assume you leave the engine in place and drop the tranny rather than the other way around??

imported_loudsubz 14-Jun-2004 09:38 AM

just drop your tranny...

what I did was

I had 2 jacks, I put the smaller jack under the oil pan along a 2X4 piece of wood to ****** out the weight. Jacked up the engine so no stress was on the mounts. I then placed another piece of wood under my 3 ton jack and put it under the tranny, pulled the tranny and dropped it onto the jack then lowered it down.

After that its a piece of cake but alot of work to remove some of the hidden bolts etc. Hardest part for me was realigning the input shaft on the tranny back into the new clutch since the hole was so snug, it took me a good 45 min to finally manuver the tranny so it would go in. Very frustatrating.

imported_loudsubz 14-Jun-2004 03:29 PM

coreyhayman 14-Jun-2004 03:43 PM

i dont think so, i just went and tugge don it and it seemed tight, i might go outside with my bro in a bit and get him to pump it will i watch ad see if the cable moves, ne toher ways i can find this out?.....cuzz who knows maybe just the cable snapped....i was powershifting the **** out of it

coreyhayman 14-Jun-2004 03:44 PM
