N1 Muffler with Resonator?

I am looking into installing my N1 exhaust, but I do not want it to be extremely loud (as testified by a lot of people, the N1 is one of the loudest mufflers on the market).

Today I called my muffler shop for installation information, and since I am only welding on muffler (no cat-back), my muffler guy told me that I should already have a stock resonator on the car.

My questions are:

- Is this true?

- Do you think with the silencer in and with a resonator in there, the exhaust will only be a little bit louder than stock at idle, and even louder during throttle?

- What wrench do I use to remove the silencer?

Thanks!

i also heard n1's are pretty loud.

Yes, you should have an OE res.

I don't think it will be THAT quiet at idle or under load.

If quiet is what you want, why are you going with a n1? Or are u just curious to see if it will be loud or not?

Wow, thanks for the quick reply Chris!
I personally love how the N1s look, and I do not want it to be completely quiet either. I want it to have a bit of sound to it, but not so much so that it is annoying when I am cruising normally on the street (eg. I don't want to be heard several blocks).

well if its always too loud or quiet, you can take out the silencer or put it back in.

And if you aren't pleased you can always get a longer res. to make it quiet. or vice versa (shorter res.=louder)

I believe Rdub99 has an n1 catback.. unforuntately he's in Dubai so he cant give u his input. I'm sure someone here has an n1 exhaust though

Thanks, are you interested in doing it together?
I will most likely be going either tomorrow or early next week.

I had a stock D16 with stock B pipe and a N1 muffler, it was fine, nothing too radical. I mean sure you can hear it, but it is not that bad.
