My FR suspension creaks... why?!
There is an embarrassing creak coming from the front passenger suspension, with a passenger or not. It usually happens when driving slow like over a speed bump/hump, or down a driveway while turning.
If I recall correctly, bbarlbuo suggested that if such noise occurs it could be the spring rubbing against the pillow mount so the fix is to spray silicone or graphite lubricant. Is this true? At first I thought it was the tire since it is a soft rubbery creak but it happens with both winter and summer rims. |
if you think its the spring then try to lubricate it and see if it goes away. It probably does have to do with your struts anyways.
MIGHT be a balljoint, but I've never seen a balljoint just create a creek over bumps, usually its when you turn the wheel, but i've seen some weird things happen. Usually what I do, is i re-create the noise and then squeeze the balljoint together and if the noise goes away its the bj. usually its a lot easier a tie-rod. WIth a bj you have to be creative, use a pry bar or something. But my money is on your struts |
Oh I forgot to mention, the noise occured before swaping from stock to H&R sports. Where would I lubricate... I would assume to soak the mount with silicone grease.
How do I squeeze the ball joint together? I just went for a small test drive and it happens when driving slow on speed bumps 100%. |
ive had this problem on my 996 my sc400 my ml320 and now on my civic as well... each time it was a worn bushing.......
