is it a must?
when doing a engine swap do you have to change the transmission?
what tranny you using now and what tranny are you planning to use?
all stock right now (CX)..but when i do the swap can i keep the stock one or do i have to upgrade
Depends...you can technically keep the same tranny, but it all comes down to WHAT SWAP?
Example... You can have a 4th gen dx and swap in a ZC motor and use your DX tranny even though you should use at least an SI tranny for performance reasons. OR You can have a 4th gen and swap in a first gen b16 in which case you CAN'T use your same tranny and you MUST use any b-series CABLE tranny. More information is required here. |
i have a 95 cx....looking to go to first gen b16a swap
if you have a 95CX you'd want to swap in a second gen b16 because you have a hydraulic tranny. The swap itself is pretty much bolt in, but yes, you will need to get a b-series hydraulic transmission with it.
k....how about a h22?
the only swap you can do in your car without swapping the tranny is a d-series motor. For example, a 99-00 SI motor.
thanx for all the info
The transmissions mount to only certain series of engines...
D series trannies go with D series engines B with B and K with K |
Technically, you can make adapter plates for them, but you're in way over your head if you go that route.
yes yes you can like shlammed mentioned
one person makes an adapter plater for h22 engines to run a b series tranny that i know of |
I know of an adapter plate being made for a type-r tranny to fit a d16y8 :D
