if you dont want a "wet fart" stay away from the cheap-o canister style mufflers, or canister mufflers in general.....

this is a canister style muffler

go with something like this

There are lots of used mufflers for sale in the classifieds. The Terminator muffler from C-T are supposed to be very good sounding and are cheap too.

How big is the tip on that thing? 5 inches?

I was thinking about making a somewhat custom exhaust for myself this summer. Magnaflow makes many nice pat that i could mix and match. 5x8x14 s.s. muffler, 3 1/2" x 7" long round tip welded to the muffler, then custom s.s. mandrel bent piping w/ a 14" resonator to my hi flo cat and headers...hmm.

My friend has a magnaflow w/ no resonator and it's a little loud and buzzy sometimes. Vibrates his car a bit. So i figure the resonator will take car of that and I'll have an exhaust that is fit/finished to my liking.
