muffler opinions

Right now im rockin a full 2.5 ID cat with a Bullet striaight muffler, Its geting a little bit to loud for my taste, cant hear the girlfriend talk over it. lol i dunno if thats a good thing or bad thing! anyways im lookin at throwin either a magnaflow or just a cherry bomb from c tire on. somthing that isnt exactly straight out and has sum baffling in it. Id still like to know when i stomping on it but nice and quite when im revving at 3-35 on the highway. Anyone have an opinion on magnaflow or cherry bomb and how they sound. keep in mind it will be 2.5" inlet and outlet

i had my magnaflow with 2.5" tube on my old cav and it was great. not too loud and not too quiet. and it has a deep tone to it...

that's funny how you said you couldn't hear you gf inside the car :haha:

Looking to buy something quieter too... Right Now I have a Vibrant but the tip is just to large and its way to loud! Is there anything out there they someone can testify to being not so loud without having to put in a silencer? I can put a silencer in mine but I find it really bogs the car down a lot if I do.

I went to NoyZBoyZ and they installed 2.25 Stainless Steel From Manifold straight through with Full MagnaFlow Exhaust with a Resonator i don't like all that loud ****....

i'm rockin a magnaflow with 2.5" exhaust and its perfect. Not too loud, but its got a nice growl throughout the rev band. Its not a cannister style fart cannon, but a regular (stock) style muffler, but its still a straight through design for maximum performance. Mind you, i've got a 2.5" high flow cat (which made it quite a bit louder than with a stock cat) and a 2.5" resonator to help with the way it sounds. I find if there isn't a resonator it sounds a little too raspy for my taste, a resonator also helps keep the sound down a bit too.

^^^ hey zeeman!!! where did you buy the muffler? im been looking for that type of muffler! it looks like a stock muffler but it has a 2'5' inlet!!! like the sleeper type muffler!! what brand is it? got pic!

zeeman 21-Mar-2006 12:46 PM

actually i got it from my friend. He just gave it to me for free. I don't know where he got it, but he never used it. Its a magnaflow, and yes it looks stock with 2.5" inlet. I can take a pic of it, if you'd like. I wish i could be more help to you.

yeh im thinkin the resonator might help, my cat dosnt have a resonator but it does have the high flow cat which results in a reallly raspy acceleration.would puttin a glasspack in where the resonator should be tone it down? or just make it a steady noise. if you could get a pic of that muffler it would be greatly appreciated zeeman

imported_blk98cx 21-Mar-2006 09:08 PM

yeah!!! let me see the pic zeeman!!! i just went to magnaflow site i dont see it, but that muffler is sick!!! cops wont mess around with you coz it looks stock and just put a nice settle polished tip on it oh boy!!! that the muffler i want! let see the pic zeeman

haha i have a 2.25" all the way back piping with magnaflow hiflow and resonator and a huge exit... but its still quiet... but when i rev it past 3.5k, that's when it raise its voice and show some madness hahaha
