Motor swaps and e-tests

I have an eg6 with a b18c1 and in need of an etest. Am i better off getting a fake one, or a real one. like do i have to tell them i have a motor swap and if i do will the ministry find out,or do i keep my mouth shut and not say anything. for those who have cars with mtr swaps waht have you done to get an etest.

there is a perfectly legal way to do an etest... they test your car as a hot rod if the engine displacement is diff't than that which originally came with your car.

btw, you don't have an EG6.

like stated above, its ok, just your car will have to be ran as a hot rod. most mechanics of today arent aware of an engine swapped civic so make sure u tell them in advance

if your motor is an older obd then it's illegal.

Ex. having a obd1 gsr in a 98 civic

RJC, you don't need to tell them the chassis code, E-test places don't care and don't know these numbers, all they care is what year and trim level your vehicle is.

As Chris mentioned, older OBD than your OEM spec is not cool, and running without a cat. is definitely a no no.

how does this effect you letting them know its a hotrod, does the government do anything about it, can they notify insurance, etc.

the insurance company CAN find out, since it's been recording. but they never look at the e-tests, they just wana know if you passed or not. I'd say theres a real good chance your company will not find out about the hotrod test.

there are a few things different between the b18a and b18b blocks actually (ie PCV valve, valve cover, EGR valve on the b18a, the fan switch location, etc etc).

I don't know who regulates what engine you can or cannot put into your car, but i doubt its the people who etest or safty your car (seeing as they're just regular old shops). I'm gunna bet its the MTO that regulates this, so if you ever get pulled over by the MTO you could be in trouble.

But i've got an older engine in my newer car (93 engine in 95 car) and i've had it legitly etested and saftied without any problems.

the motor age vs Car age policy is not important because no one is out there enforcing it and the majority of them can't tell the difference.

Thanks man
and the block was built with obd2 oil, water pumps, ect...
what i ment buy the same is that if you strip a b18a down to bare block, you can build it up to obd2 so why is there the year rating on motors??
Now I gotta go over my map to pass etest
What is the specs for the etest on the dyno?
certin rpm under a certin load for x amount of time??
