If you're certain there is no spark and checked for anything obvious on the secondary side of ignition system, try this test to check if the igniter is good.
(Not sure if the wire colours are the same for all years) Anyhow, hope this helps. http://tinypic.com/1zvxab There's some troubleshooting for you, since you asked. |
Or the easier way to check to see if the igniter is sending a signal to the coil:
There should be (+) on Terminal A of the coil with key on, engine off. With test light connected to (+) with engine cranking, the test light should be pulsing when connected to Terminal B. If it's pulsing while cranking then there is a signal to the coil. ^If that made any sense? |
..
i had same problem ...after putting in tranny..like ^^^ said check thermastat ground / ecu and like ^^^^ said check current on ignitor wires to make sure your getting spark...put one end at computer one end at distributor and check continuity..also check main harness wires that go in ecu and see if wires are all in plugs...my .02 thsoe were my problems and also fuel pump ground ...
