motor swap

how do i get the blink codes by jumping wires

you take a plug from down by the computer and jump a wire from one to the other

i know where the wires are but i dont know what ones
brown wire and ?

my car is a 95 civic hatch cx
i blew the 1st 96 D16y7 / and then put a new 96 D16y7 in.

ok i blew the first one then bought a new one of a buddy it ran great in his car it only has 49000 km on it so its good as new
i had to put my own tranny, distributer, starter, alt. ect ect.

i fire it up for the 1st time and the eng. light comes on i hear loud knocking noises in the motor and it wont stay running.
( as soon as the eng. light came on the knocking started)

im not sure if i have the plug wires in the right spot
would this cause the motor to knock like that?

do i have to have the pistons and distributer lined up a sertan way?

all the plugs on the wire harness are pluged in to the right spots so................ i dont have a clue what to do

how do i stop the knocking?

no oil causes the motor to knock.

do a oil change stop trying to start the car till then. after that then mess around with it if you haven't already done that.

is it a knock or a tick?
maybe valve adjustment?
