what's hourse power? what kind of an animal is a hourse? is it stronger or weaker than a horse?

LEITNER 10-Oct-2005 09:00 AM

you cant polish a turd, save up and do a swap.

:haha:

Well you can put a vtec head on a non vtec block its called a "mini-me" and is a decent way of increasing power on a budget, but you are still left with a crappy tranny and small displacement.
And for what it would cost for parts and such you could just put a d16z6 (si) engine and tranny in and be done with it. Or save up a bit for a b-series swap.
Doesn't the vx come with a factory wideband o2?

save your money. You will not be satisfied with the z6 head. Trust me, i have a d16y8 and I hate it.

Xscorpio 10-Oct-2005 11:26 AM

wow why do you have d16y8?

Yep. 5 wire as opposed to the common 4 wire.

the VX motor is a real D0GGFU<KER.!!!!!!!!

i have the head its been in my garage for a year
its not costing me nothing
im wondering will it work ?
puting a SI head on the vx block (vx is v-tec too but has less hp. then a dx) if i can get 10-20 hp by get'n my hands dirty why not its a winter car

then go for it. It will work.

yes well i would resurface the head or mill it a little to raise the compression up a bit. Are you using the SI intake manifold, injectors and throttle body too?
Wouldn't putting a z6 head on a z1 block give you a really low compression?

Xscorpio 10-Oct-2005 09:36 PM

ops chris i ment why do you "hate" D16y8, i love my motor, only **** part is that its an auto :(

Xscorpio 10-Oct-2005 09:37 PM

btw i also have D16Y8 :)

chris_si98 10-Oct-2005 09:57 PM

different people have different likes. IMO my engine isn't too fun to drive. I can't wait till I swap and get that crappy sohc outta there :wavey:
