ok so, if I've been using castrol syntec for a while now, is it cool to switch to Amsoil?
And BB since you know my mileage, you'd probably have me stick to what I've been using all along.
where else besides Altech for AMSOIL?

Amsoil is compatible with all engine oils. You can switch anytime you want to. When I switched I bought an engine flush liquid from Canadian Tire to clean out any deposits left from previous oils before using Amsoil. Also, you should use Amsoil Super Duty oil filters; they last 20,000km. So you would change the oil filter every half year or 20,000km which ever comes first. PM me, i know where to get it at discount prices.

i have amsoil in my car. I put 30,000km on it with just 1 oil change. the car purrrs like kitten. this oil that i'm using can last upto 50,000km /year with 2 filter changes. i would recomend it because i'm proof that it works.

tests run on amsoil show it outperforms all others by quite a large margin. if you drive normally it should last 20-30k easy, maybe even more. The altech shop van used for hauling parts gets only 1 oil change a year, using amsoil synthetic of course, and puts over 30k of travel every year. however having a souped up motor and frequently "gunning it" you should change it sooner. let's put it this way, if the oil being drained is still somewhat good you know your engine hasn't seen much wear. it's all about peace of mind.
btw, u should use amsoil engine flush before switching to amsoil synthetic, regardless if you're using dino or synthetic right now.
