Mini Me Swap

quick question.

i got a d16y7 that i want to swap the head from a d16y8 onto.

is it as simple as taking the head and intake manifold off and just putting it on the y7 or are there other things i need to do aswell?

what headgasket should i use etc?

both motors are complete but the bottom one on the y8 is gone. and the car is prewired for an y8 motor cuz its a usdm ex.

the y7 and y8 gaskets are the same as well as the timing belt. Its a straight forward swap

Its pretty much the same bro, Y7's and Y8's are interchangable, one's a VTEC and one isn't. Straight foward swap...

i believe you will have to also swap throttle body, fuel rail, fuel injectors and ECU (its P2E i believe). new OEM gaskets are always a good idea alongwith gasket sealant....apart from this...i cant think of anything else.

Check This Link For a DIY

Wiring ECU is the tricky part but half way down this DIY...you will find alot of info on it.

well those things come on the intake manifold so thats why i didnt mention it.
car came factory with a y8 motor so no need to do wiring, and i already have the ecu aswell.

basically i am just going to take out the complete y8 motor, take off the head with the im and then do the same to the y7 and slap the y8 head and im onto it and put it back in the car and use the stock harness and plug everything back in.

at the same time i am going to be doing the headgasket, timing belt, waterpump, all the seals, pcv, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, spark plug wires, synthetic oil change, valve adjustment, minor port and polish, etc....
