if only ppl get under their car once or twice and took a look, things would be so much clearer and we'd avoid 97% of stupid questions.
or if people started reading a damn service manual/shop manual. there is no question in the world that can't be answered using the factory service manual!
when i get really annoyed, I take a few months off from the P&S forum and just visit here to do my mod duties.

bah..
I know. After repeating myself for the 10th time in 2 weeks it gets on your nerves. I don't even bother replying to the pm's I get for help anymore, it's such a waste, they never listen and if they do listen they end up paying somebody to do it anyways.

Hey jay for wires i would stick with the y8 ones as caps of the wires are made for the top holes in the head. Prob should use the y8 plugs but compression should be higher so might want a lower heat range.

alright thanks alot guys.
picking up the donor car tomarrow (1997 civic hatch) and then pulling the motor out. the car its going into will be a 1996 USDM EX ( which came with oem power sunroof and a y8 motor). getting the donor car for 200 bucks hence the reason i am putting the y7 in if anyone wanted to know since it works out super cheap. the old owner told me the current y8 in the car is "making alot of noise" and is assuming the bottom end is gone. I havent cranked it yet to find out so what i am gonna do is crank it before i start taking the motor out and see what the problem could be worse case scenario i will pull the motor and then drop the y7 in there with a new timing belt, headgasket, seals, and waterpump and the y8 head. since the car already came with a y8 this should be plug and play and i dont have to mess around with anything. Plan on keeping the same y8 tranny aswell since there are no grinds and the clutch is still new plus i think i read somwhere the si tranny is best (thats for the 5th gen but i am assuming 6th gen si would be a close second). any other advice or looks i should know before i start? will be using the stock ecu aswell (the y8 one). so the only thing i will be switching is the y7 bottom end everything else will be used back.
