Master Cylinder Upgrade

Since I have a 90 Prelude Si Master chillin in my car I might aswel install that bad boy...its a nice 15/16 in size and should nicely up the braking power :thumbup:

any tips other than some nice fresh brake fluid and normal bleeding procedures?

imported_trackhack 12-May-2005 07:15 PM

SS lines

Cynikal.Mindset 12-May-2005 07:21 PM

yes, those would be nice...but those cost money...and this is a free project...maybe down the road though for sure

i bought Russell speed bleeders so to complete the one man brake bleeding team... bleed from... RR-FL-RL-FR

Cynikal.Mindset 12-May-2005 08:07 PM

do I have to bleed the calipers? I would think only bleedin the master cyl would be needed, especially if u bench bleed it first

imported_starboy869 12-May-2005 09:52 PM

I would bleed the whole system.

It's really not that hard. Unless you snap a bleeder screw off.

Cynikal.Mindset 12-May-2005 11:25 PM

not hard but a royal PITA

bbarbulo 13-May-2005 12:30 AM

bleed the entire system matt, no sense in doing the upgrade half ass.

besides, is it an Si master cyl w/o ABS? I was gonna do this upgrade too on my EF

Cynikal.Mindset 13-May-2005 12:50 AM

yea non abs master....I guess I'll do the upgrade on a non hungover sunday...this sunday is out of the question.

I also have the prop valve just incase one day I feel bored and do a rear disk conversion

imported_Moe_Mentum 13-May-2005 10:51 AM

Just along the same topic, I what's one of the better MC I can use in a 99EX other then the typical one from an SIR?

Brett 13-May-2005 12:30 PM

I did the conversion using a 91 ex master, came with a nice new resovoir and everthing from the autoparts store. Deifinetly bleed the whole system though i would think it would be nearly impossible to sw mc's without letting air into the system.

bbarbulo 13-May-2005 04:16 PM

Brett, canadian tire no longer carries EX master cyls, and the carquest and napa core charges are upwards of $150 or so.

Brett 13-May-2005 04:33 PM

I've got a pretty good hook-up for oem parts through barton auto parts in hamilton... As for the core charge, i had and old garbage MC laying around that they took with no issues (could be my dads been buying parts there for 20yrs).

'sup!

NICE size mc! Anyways just make sure to clean the reservoir w/brake clean (if it's not brand new/re-man) to make sure no contaminants get into the system, and yup bench bleed it and after wards DEFINATLY bleed the whole system; I always go from furtherest away from the mc to the closest;

-R/R
-L/R
-R/F
-L/F

btw; rear disc conversion makes for a NICE upgrade on an EF. ('speciily now u have the bigger mc)

As well, you'll have newer trailing arm bushing, etc etc etc;
