Manual Vtec!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YES THATS RIGHT, there is such thing as manual VTEC!!!! I did an engine swap in my non-vtec 92 civic for a 97 si vtec from japan. The engine didn't come with the ECU so i was never able to enable my Vtec...but wait... I found out through a friend that you can manually activate your Vtec by making a few simple installations and a push button in which u can push and hold the button at 4500 rpm and boom u got vtec. the mod cost me 20 bucks including wiring and i was amazed of this. the guy who installed it on my car had done it first on his prelude and boy could u ever feel the difference. either way, i created this thread to start a discussion about this topic and to educate a guy on TCC that believes I'm a liar. If you don't believe me, come to Hamilton and I'll take u around the block and you can see for yourself. Other than that I'm out...PEACE

this isn't news at all. only thing you're missing is your timing and fuel curves aren't optimal when you do it this way. I mean it'll make the VTEC activate, but since your ECU doesn't know... it won't compensate for the 'new' lobe profile.

well the cam profile in VTEC allows for more air to enter, and the ECU should compensate with fuel adjustments. odds are, you are prolly missing 5-10 hp at the crank from a lack of 'tuning'. now... would you feel 5 hp... I dunno if YOU would. now... you could just take a 92-95 VTEC ecu and plug it in, being a 92 sedan, your car should be pre-wired for VTEC.

how can it be pre-wired for vtec tho? my previous engine was anything but vtec. it was just a crappy stock engine that burned mad oil lol when i contacted honda they told me that i had to find the correct codes and stuff for the proper ecu and that it could take a long time figuring out which one was suitable for my car. any tips on what kind of ecu i should get ??

haha if you can vtec whenever you want, i can't imagine how your map will look like...
plus... vtec is designed at a certain point to activate for a reason... and again, it relates to the cam and when to let more air in... you can't just say let air flow increase at 500rpm... that'll result lost in power instead... more air in, but not increase in fuel... air/fuel ratio??? you need proper mixture to combust haha

just like mentioned previoulsy.
having vtec engage at any point without optimal tuning is useless.
your not getting the power your supposed to be and your definately not gettting back the most in terms of feedback from the motor

thats true, i have a fake motor...'nooob' - what is the purpose of making fun of someone on a car website forum? does it make u feel better or something? last time i checked it was a discussion forum not someplace to belittle ppl so that u feel huge
