Machine Shops (FLYWHEEL)

ok, I have a zc flywheel, and I had 8 pounds removed, further more, I want a little more taken off around the edges, and despritly need it balanced, does anyone know of any good cheap shops around in oakville/burlington/hamilton that do this?

If you are taking that much weight off, I would seriously consider buying an aftermarket one. I generally don't even recommend lightening the stock ones unless you're only taking off a few pounds.

Anyways, Leitner can do all the stuff that you asked about.

better be careful matt.... you dont want that flywheel to snap.... which would be another huge waste of time on your hands.... again....

i could've done all that for you when i was still in school though....

bah, D series dont make torque to shatter that,

It's not necessarily about torque to shatter them. High RPM's can be dangerous for them as well.

most of the time thats true.... but up a hill you notice a slight pull....


and matt... one thing to remember as rpm increases the mechanical stress on all rotational parts of the engine/drivetrain goes up exponentially (sp)

ie. the stress on the flywheel at 2000 rpm is say 4 units or stress.... at 4000 rpm its 16 units of stress.... at 6000 its 64 units.... and at 8000 its 256.... at 10 000 its 1024....

see why its hard to build a high reving all motor car??
