LS/Vtec VS. GSR

hey guys...just wanna do a comparison
what would be better and why?
a LS/VTEC with a LS (b18b1) bottom end AND a 1999 GSR head

OR

a GSR (b18c1)

tell me which one is better....ppl keep telling me that the ls/vtec is really good, but i wanna know why...
thanks

you dun necessarily need a GSR head btw, you could just as well use a B16A head and port n' polish the **** out of it and it'll flow better than a ported B18C head.

I'm not completely sure why a ls/vtec would be particularly better, but building one definetely requires alot of money Not to mention you get to choose what parts and stuff will go into the motor, unlike the stock B18C1, which is power straight out of the swap.

I know there will be better posts within this thread, so keep this alive, we need a good ls/vtec thread in this forum

The LS block has a longer stroke than the GSR. This gives it more displacement and a more useable power band.

Nope but I second the notion of a B16 head, but a GSR will increase compression.

But use a b16 head, P&P cams, valve train, pistons, rods, etc.. you'll spank allot of cars

for one thing it's easier to find, and secondly I think the design of it results in better flow than the GSR head even when ported and polished

think about it, B16A heads are on Type R motors

You're best and only bet would be to get a Skunk2 manifold for the GSR head
