It's good if you're willing to do it right (ie spend the money required) and not half *** it like some people have done. Is it worth it? A properly built LS/VTEC will produce more power in most cases than a simialarly built B16A or GSR... in most cases.
How much power? That will depend on the parts you use.
How reliable? Like any Honda motor rebuilt for performance, you can only expect so much in terms of longevity and reliability. Best thing to do is go with a reputable shop to do the rebuild and also be prepared to spend money on tuning it... tuning is always important.
