ls trany, d engine

could an ls manual transmission be mated with a regular d-series engine?

reason i ask is because the tranny on my car is going.... well its gone, and since my car has a warranty on it, i thought i could take the warranty money and buy an ls tranny instead, so in a couple months i could buy the ls engine to go with it, and have a zippy lil car

this is an honest question, i've searched and havn't seen anything on it, especially since there isn't any benefit to it, its just a conveniance thing for me

you could still pick it up and keep it in storage or something... a d series tranny can be had for like $100... i was giving my old one away and nobody wanted it so i just took it to the dump...

but spend a little more and get a gsr tranny for the ls engine... it'll be more peppy

The engine may be peppy but an LS tranny is not peppy at all.
