Lowering Questions

I have a 99 Honda Civic EX and I was thinking about lowering it but I don't know how to go about doing it. I want to know what i need and where I can go to get it lowered. Springs, coilovers? What is the max amout that it can be lowered without sacraficing ride quality? How much will the parts cost? Labour?

you have lots of options....springs, coilovers or full coilover (spring/coilover combo).

i wouldn't go much lower than 2.3"....it really depends on your specific application.

springs usually start at $250.......coilovers depending on the brand start at $100 (you get what you pay for)....full coilover suspensions start at $1000.

installations can be done at performance shops like RT Motorsport...I think Rick charges $100 or so....or you can have them installed privately by other board members.

I was thinking 1.5'' because i just need it for regular driving, no performance applications. How much do a decent springs go for to get teh whole care done?

1.5" is a good drop

you will be happy I bet, specially for daily driving

springs can be had for under $300 Brand new, and around 150-200 used depending on condition.

Install is anywhere from 60-200 depends who you go with

If Matt is trusted by most, then why go to someone else?

Go to him. Labour price is reasonable and you will get to experience what is being done to your car.

loudsubz is the kinda guy who'll lose sleep if something's not done right. Plus you get to watch him work, while most shops keep you out due to insurance regulations. Go see loudsubz....

My install for my full ssuspension was FREE. Did it myself in the Garage.

IF you dont know how 60-200 seems like a good deal. i dont see it taking long since it is a new car and shouldnt have problems taking off parts.

Springs = awesome
coil over suspension = awesome
coil over alone = not the best

1.5 is good for daily driving. I chose 2.2 still dont look low that much works great with the 15's. auto xing soon

I thought that too, untill I ran into problems on a 99 or 98 I did and already a couple bolts were seized. Typical Shock bolts were gone, but also the rear outer that connects to the trailing arm.

Corosion works in mysterious ways
